Question

Well, I guess most of us have seen that $750 Felicity on eBay right now and agree that her coloring is stellar. It has inspired me to tweak the facial coloring on some of my paler dolls.

I have never done this, though, so I would LOVE some suggestions from those of you who have added lip and cheek color to a doll before. Thanks!!

Kitschywoman has done this using paint and thinner or something like that. You may be able to find her instructions in an old thread or maybe in a sticky at the top of the board.

Yeah, I remember someone talking about using paint -- but I have to say that thought scares me! Someone else mentioned using Bare Escentuals make-up once. I might try paint on the lips, but I would be afraid to do the cheeks I think. Lord knows I can't even put blush on my own face correctly!

I read once that plain ol' lipstick works a charm. You just get a tiny bit of it on your fingers and just massage it into the area. I used to do this kind of thing with reborn dolls only it was a product that I bought from a craft store - same kind of thing though. Basically it sinks into the vinyl and becomes permanent eventually.

I just used my own powder blush and lipstick to put some color into our PM Molly's face.

I applied the blush (Clinique Pink) with a cotton ball. I placed a Mattel doll next to Molly to get an idea about proper placement on cheeks.

For her lips, I just applied a bit of pink lipstick with a cotton swab. I found that I need to re-appply the lipstick occasionally. I may try one that is a bit more coral than pink next time.

Picture #28 in my album is a close-up of Molly. While she doesn't look exactly rosy, she was entirely void of color before. You can see that her lips have a hint of color. Her cheek color is harder to see - she may need a touch up all around.

Does any one know what colours to use for freckles? I think someone on the board mentioned it once but I didn't write it down so I don't know what to get.

    <font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">Here'sthe most recent (I think) thread on freckles.

Melissa mentions using a color that's similar to the doll's wig, but lighter.
